Acá presento una nueva revisión a este genial Binocular BARSKA Mod. Gladiator de 20 a 100 aumentos con zoom y lentes de salida de 70 mm. Una vez más hago la aclaración que el desempeño ideal de este modelo es por debajo de los 30 aumentos, más allá de éstos el objetivo adolece de estrechez y muy poca definición, aberraciones sufridas comúnmente en los modelos con zoom. Por lo demás su rendimiento a 30X es excelente como podrán observar en éste video en el que se muestra una casa ubicada a 2.49 km. de distancia, (dato longitudinal tomado con Google Earth) la cual pareciera estar más cerca de ésta longitud debido a que fuera de foco del lente binocular le hago un acercamiento con una cámara de video Samsung de 42X.

This is a low cost monocular offering from Barska. I was hoping to add this to my hunting load-out after my initial testing with it. It is not a high value option as it fell apart during the review. I have been using this for about 6 months and I have had some issues to date before it started to fall apart in my hands. The pupil is very small and the eye relief is not good. You really need to push your eye all the way in to see the picture at all. The clarity of the optics seem to be ok in most light conditions, however, at night it is very apparent this is a low cost option. The image quality is ok with some aberrations that can be expected in a low end offering. I can not recommend this offering from Barska. I will continue to look for a high quality low cost option providing a high value system.

This is a great binocular camera for the casual user, but the more serious bird watching type, may want to spend a little more money. Specifically, take a look at the last digcam binoculars (From Barska) in this review. It uses a standard USB connector to upload pictures and videos taken to your computer.

BinoCatch 4×28 Digital Binoculars w/Built-In Digital Camera/Camcorder

These usually go for about $50, but I’ve seen them in the $20 price range as well. A bit of a toy set, but something that may be fun for the kids, or maybe a one time usage. You get a pretty good software bundle with it for the price. ArcSoft Photoimpression, My DSC, and PCCam are all included that alone makes it worth a few bucks. The formfactor construction is a little on the light side. The plasctic used could have been better, and you’ll have to treat this one with a little care because of it. You do, however get 4×28 magnification, video capture, and a few extras. It’s kind of 50% camera, and 50% binoculars.
